Tamara Zidanšek is a Slovenian professional tennis player who’s been playing tennis since she was a young girl. Although she doesn’t come from an athletic family, she has always enjoyed sports. She started her professional career as a snowboarder and won the Junior Championship. She discovered her passion for tennis later, at summer camps, and quickly traded in her snowboard for a racket and a tennis court.

During her short career, she has achieved many enviable accomplishments.. In 2014, she won her first tournament in Velenje, after which she went on to succeed in ITF tournaments in 2015, 2016 and 2017, both in singles and in doubles.

Her biggest career breakthrough came in 2018. In this decisive year of her career, she entered the WTA rankings, becoming one of the top 100 players in the world for the first time. She used 2021 to make news, turn heads and, most importantly, successfully climb the WTA rankings. She earned an enviable position among the top 50 players in the world.

She used each new success to learn and honed her powerful forehand, which led to her ranking as no. 22 in the WTA rankings in 2022. On clay surfaces, she has stood shoulder to shoulder with the world’s top tennis players.

Tamara has shown she is unstoppable on the tennis court. Despite her amazing career in sports, she decided to pursue a parallel academic career and decided to pursue a degree in psychology. When she finds a gap in her busy schedule, Tamara likes to spend time with her family and friends, driving, going on nature walks, cross-country skiing and, of course, watching a good TV series.
